As many of you know, the Richmond Tea Party has been through a grueling process lasting nearly THREE YEARS in an attempt to secure designation from the IRS as a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization. During the review application, the organization was subjected to what we believed were requests for information from the IRS that were entirely inappropriate and intrusive. So egregious in fact, that an official review has been kicked off in Washington to examine the complaints of various tea party (and related) groups nationwide.
We are now happy to report that we received preliminary approval 2 weeks ago, and just received the final “hardcopy” record by mail that indicates that our application was officially approved.
We thank all of our supporters that have followed this saga as it developed, and we are happy to no longer dedicate another moment of time/resources to this matter.
