This is a question that we hear quite often. Conservative-minded people all across America are wondering what we all can do to effect the kind of change that will set the country back on-course.

But that is actually the wrong question. The question that each of us should be asking ourselves is “what can *I* do PERSONALLY to change things?”. We will never improve the conditions in America as long as we collectively ask what everyone can do. Asking the question in this larger context simply leads to inaction, because it allows people to tell themselves that there is always someone else who will do the heavy lifting. Unfortunately, it is a lie that we tell ourselves for convenience. Improving our conditions takes hard work. There is no shortcut, no group of “everyone else” who can wave a wand and provide that course correction.

One of our goals for the Richmond Tea Party is to encourage local and individual participation in government. We believe that if you effect change locally, that those changes have a ripple effect across the state and the country. If you are not happy with the political situation in the country, your state, or your local government, the best thing you can do is get involved.

Below is a passionate plea that lays out the rationale and methods for getting involved in your local political committee. For conservative-minded individuals (like many of you), that vehicle would more likely be your local Republican Party, but the ideas discussed in the article could be applied to any political organization or party that you wish to change. To be clear…this is not an endorsement of the Republican party.

So the next time you find yourself asking “what can WE do to effect change?”, you’ll already have the answer of what you PERSONALLY can do. If you are always “too busy” to get involved, then you must accept the consequences of that inaction. Will you choose action to create positive change, or will you choose inaction?

If after reading this you feel compelled to get involved, let us know via our Contact page, and we can work to get you connected with others.

From Breitbart.com:

It’s easy to do. It does not take a lot of time. It’s just basic American civics in action. When your country is in crisis – and it is – it’s your civic DUTY to do this. (I was taught this in 7thgrade in public school in the late Sixties in Wisconsin).

Is it not YOUR civic duty?

Here is all you need to do. Attend your local Republican Party committee meeting once a month. That’s about a two-hour commitment. Then come primary and general election season, spend about four hours – just FOUR hours – helping to get out the vote for the best Republican candidates. Think of what our forefathers went through. Our armed service members. Can you sacrifice just 30 hours a year? Of course you can. And you will find it is rewarding!

ACTION BY DOING vs. INACTION BY TALKING

If you really want to change the country, start by becoming a Party Precinct Committeeman! It’s the most powerful office in the world because Precinct Committeemen determine who gets the chance to be elected to office at every level of government. Is saving your country worth a few hours of your time each month? I thought so. Please read on for what to DO.

1. To change things, we must change the laws.

2. To change the laws, we must change the people who make the laws.

3. To get elected, your candidate must be on the ballot.

4. To get on the November ballot you must win the Primary.

5. To win the Primary, you must get the support of people who make endorsements in the Primary, who reliably vote in the Primary, and who get out the vote of others in the Primary. Those people are the Precinct Committeemen.
