There’s a public hearing tonight to discuss the proposed changes to the county charter for Chesterfield. There were some serious concerns raised about the county supervisors ceding too much of their control/oversight to the county administrator, reducing citizen influence into county decisions/operations. Some changes have been made to the charter since first reviewed. Its been suggested by concerned county citizens that the charter be removed entirely, as Chesterfield is only one of three counties in the state to have one in effect currently.

We hope to see you there!

The feedback provided by citizens on the proposed charter changes at the public hearing on November 16th is appreciated. Based on that feedback, some of the original proposed changes have been removed to enhance the Board of Supervisors oversight and citizen participation in the hiring of the Police Chief.
