VICTORY ALERT: State Senate Passes 10th Amendment Health Care Bill

Richmond Tea Party, along with dozens of other Tea Party and Patriot groups in Virginia, had a huge victory today in the State Senate. The Democrat-controlled State Senate passed a major iniative of the Richmond Tea Party, the 10th Amendment Health Care bill. This bill states that health insurance CANNOT be mandated in Virginia, nor can you be fined, taxed, or imprisoned for not having health insurance.

Our biggest obstacle in passing this bill was the State Senate. We are grateful for the bipartisan support of the State Senate. We received the vote of all the Senate Republicans plus 5 Senate Democrats: Chuck Colgan (Manassas), Phillip Pucket (Bland, Buchanan, Dickenson, Pulaski, Smyth, Russell, Tazewell, Wise, Wythe), Roscoe Reynolds (Carroll, Floyd, Galax, Grayson, Henry, Patrick, Martinsville, Wythe), John Miller (Hampton, Newport News, York), and Edward Houck (Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Louisa, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania).

It is very important that we express our thanks to these state senators. The Chairman of the RTP Legislative Committee, Joe Guarino, mentioned that he ran into a Legislative Aide for a Senate Democrat who expressed surprised and appreciation for all the emails they received thanking them for their yea vote in Committee.
