Big money will rule the day again in Virginia for the republican presidential primary this fall. The Republican Party of Virginia SCC (State Central Committee) voted today to hold a primary instead of a nominating convention, so whoever can dump the most money into the race will likely win. This also means that Virginia’s ultimate republican candidate could win the nomination with only a fraction of the vote, since there will be so many candidates running. The winning candidate could end up with < 20% of the vote.

And finally, the SCC members voted to have the final vote via secret ballot, so that they could vote against a convention and have no one know how they voted. Transparency is for chumps.
