There’s been a development regarding the ongoing story about the Republican Party friendly-fire smear campaign in the 7th district. It appears now that the plaintiff (tea party leader Fred Gruber) is expanding the scope of his defamation lawsuit after the explosive details of the case were revealed yesterday. This could include the addition of several other individuals named in the initial defendant’s sworn affidavit, such as RPV First Vice Chairman Mike Thomas and Donald Williams, Chairman of the Chesterfield County Republican Committee.
We applaud the rooting out of any individuals involved in fabricated, coordinated smear campaigns intended to damage the reputation and political standing of opponents. This kind of behavior must not be tolerated.
