The Richmond Times-Dispatch released a Q&A interview session today with Larry Nordvig, RTP’s new executive director.
Catch it on the RTD site HERE.
The board of directors of the Richmond Tea Party recently selected Laurence “Larry” Nordvig as the organization’s new executive director. He says the group’s emails go to thousands of supporters.
Nordvig, a pilot for a major airline, is a former Navy aviator. The Powhatan resident has lived in Virginia for more than 20 years.
Nordvig serves as a baseball coach for the Richmond Patriots, a high school team of home-schooled students.
What are the chief goals of the Richmond Tea Party?
Above all, we strive to encourage citizens to participate in the political process. This is the greatest privilege Americans possess and should never be neglected. Our party facilitates that participation through the mobilization and training of our supporters. The Richmond Tea Party believes in limited government, constitutional adherence, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and virtue and accountability in our politicians. We will advocate for liberty-minded legislation through rallies, open debate and personal interaction with political representatives. In a nutshell, our objective is to return this great nation to the republic envisioned by our Founding Fathers.

Can you state the Richmond Tea Party’s position on State Nullification of Federal Laws and Actions? The Roanoke Tea Party seems to focus on this issue as perhaps one of, if not the, most important ways to address federal overreach, while I see little or nothing about the concept within the Richmond Tea Party website. Are members reading the book “Nullification” by Thomas Woods?
Likewise, what is the Richmond Tea Party’s position on the actions and legislative efforts of the Virginia Tenth Amendment Center?
Thank you for your attention.
I enjoyed watching Mr. Nordvig on Greta van Susteren’s show. When I looked for a place to comment on that, I found a thread for discussion of whether we like the flat tax, and I wrote a comment saying I prefer the fair tax instead of flat, because the flat tax is still an income tax. The fair tax is a great idea because there are a lot fewer businesses than people, so it should be easier to keep track of the money – and the agency would be smaller and less powerful. Those businesses already have to deal with the income tax, so they would be no worse off, and the IRS would have to leave the rest of us alone. I was encouraged when I read some of the other comments and noted that most of the other people were also shifting the discussion to the fair tax, even though the original question did not mention that. Keep up the good work.
Larry:
It is time the Tea Party unites through out the country. We can not wait for the Rhino republicans to do so. We have to start a coalition with the Conservatives. The Tea Party is a group of Americans that believe in the Constitution of the United States. I am a member of the North Bergen Tea Party located in Wyckoff, New Jersey. We must unite all of the Tea Party’s in all of the states. American Patriots are ready to be united. We have to have one voice at a time focusing on one topic at at a time. We must unite via the inter net with one message at a time and that is focusing on taking control of the senate and maintaining control of the congress.
